I had been seeing some interesting things on Pinterest. I like the look of three dimensional objects placed onto a canvas. Before Halloween, I had bought one of these half pumpkins. Or maybe I had bought it the year before on clearance and had been hoarding it for a year. Who knows?
Anyway, my intent was to find some flowers and make it look nice. I’m not sure if it’s exactly what I had originally wanted, but it was fun.
I painted a canvas with what I thought was going to be some fun patterns. I also base coated the pumpkin in white.
Then I put the pumpkin and my flowers I wanted to use with it and decided it was super ugly. Blech.
Redid the entire thing. Had something called PearlEx, which is just powdered pigments. I had a lot of fun with these. I base painted the canvas with mostly shades of yellow and let it dry. Once it dried, I used my fingers and applied the pigments in gold, an orange and a blue. I then kept it in place with Krylon’s Workable Fixatif. I then cut all the flowers apart and placed them and hot glued them into place.
The pumpkin was a bit tricky. I used some heavy duty glue, and weighed it down until it was dry.
Now I have a beautiful fall piece of art for my home!
